Privacy Policy
Oakbridge Legal Services ("we", "us", "our") is committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly. This policy explains what we collect, why we use it, the rights you have, and how to contact us — in line with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.
The information we collect
We collect information you give us directly — such as your name, address, email address, telephone number and details of your matter. Where relevant to your instructions we may also collect identification documents, information about your circumstances, and correspondence relating to the work you ask us to carry out.
How we use your information
We use your information to provide the legal support services you have asked for, to respond to enquiries, to maintain accurate records of the work undertaken, and to meet our legal and record-keeping obligations.
Our lawful basis for using your data
We rely on your consent and on the steps needed to provide our services (the performance of our engagement with you). Where we have a legal or regulatory obligation, we also process data on that basis. You can withdraw your consent at any time.
Who we share your information with
We do not sell your personal data. We share information only where necessary to deliver your matter — for example with a regulated professional we refer you to — or where we are required to by law. Any such sharing is kept to the minimum needed.
International transfers
Your information is principally stored and processed within the United Kingdom. Where any transfer outside the UK is necessary, we take steps to ensure it remains appropriately protected.
How long we keep your data
We retain personal data only for as long as needed to provide our services and to meet our record-keeping obligations. After that, it is securely deleted or anonymised.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information against unauthorised access, loss or disclosure, and we limit access to those who need it to carry out your matter.
Your rights
You have rights to access, correct, restrict, object to, or delete your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Cookies
Our website uses only the cookies needed for it to function. We do not use your data for intrusive advertising or profiling.
Children's privacy
Our services are intended for individuals aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page so you are always aware of how we handle your information.
Contact & complaints
For any privacy question, request or complaint, email info@oakbridgelegalservices.co.uk or write to us at Greytown House, 140 High Street, Colchester, Essex, CO1 1QW. We will respond promptly and do our best to resolve any concern.
Oakbridge Legal Services is an independent legal services provider. We are not a firm of solicitors and are not authorised or regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). We provide non-reserved legal services and practical legal assistance. Where a matter requires a reserved legal activity or advice from an appropriately regulated professional, we will explain this to you and, where appropriate, recommend that you obtain assistance from an authorised solicitor or other suitably regulated professional. Clients of Oakbridge Legal Services do not receive the regulatory protections that apply to clients of an SRA-regulated solicitors' practice.
